Myersville, incorporated in 1904 and rebuilt after 1919
Myersville was incorporated by an act of the Maryland legislature in March 1904, when the population stood at just 150. Six years earlier, in the autumn of 1898, the Myersville and Catoctin Railway trolley line had arrived, linking the town to Middletown, Frederick, and eventually Hagerstown, and it kept running until 1945. Then, on January 4, 1919, a fire destroyed many of the shops and buildings at the center of town.
